Genesis 2:9 :<\/strong>^{\u201c<\/em><\/sup>And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.\u201d <\/em>\u00a0The \u201ctree of life\u201d pictures Christ. Like Christ, it was provided by God for the purpose of offering eternal life to man. The fruit of this tree was to be \u201cfreely\u201d eaten (Genesis 2:16: \u201c<\/strong>^{<\/sup>And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat<\/em>:\u201d, just as eternal life in Christ is to be freely received. Merely knowing<\/em> about the tree wasn\u2019t enough; man had to personally receive<\/em> its fruit into his system by eating of it.\u00a0 He had a fair option to choose either this tree or the \u201ctree of knowledge of good and evil,\u201d but like men today, he chose death rather than life.<\/p>\n<\/body>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"}}
