Hundreds of years before Jesus was born, the Scriptures\nspoke of His coming. The world should have known and welcomed Him, but their\nignorance and blindness concerning the teaching of Scripture led them to fail\nto recognize who He was. The world is and was without excuse. Look what the\nScripture revealed about Christ long before He came: <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He would be of the tribe of Judah. \u201cJudah is a lion\u2019s whelp: from the prey, my son, thou art gone up: he stooped down, he couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up? The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be\u201d\u00a0\u00a0 (Genesis 49:9-10). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He would be born in Bethlehem. \u201cBut thou, Bethlehem Ephratah,\nthough thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he\ncome forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been\nfrom of old, from everlasting\u201d (Micah 5 :2). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He would be born of a virgin. \u201cTherefore the Lord\nhimself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son,\nand shall call his name Immanuel\u201d (Isaiah 7: 14). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He would be called out of Egypt. \u201cWhen Israel was a\nchild, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt\u201d (Hosea 11:1). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He would come as a prophet. \u201cI will raise them up a\nProphet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his\nmouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. And it shall\ncome to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall\nspeak in my name, I will require it of him\u201d (Deuteronomy 18: 18-19). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
His own people would reject Him. \u201cHe is despised and\nrejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it\nwere our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not\u201d (Isaiah\n53:3). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He would make a triumphal entry into Jerusalem.\n\u201cRejoice greatly, 0 daughter of Zion; shout, 0 daughter of Jerusalem:\nbehold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and\nriding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass\u201d (Zechariah 9:9). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He would be sold for thirty pieces of silver. \u201cAnd I\nsaid unto them, Ifye think good, give me my price; and if not, forbear. So they\nweighed for my price thirty pieces of silver. And the LORD said unto me, Cast\nit unto the potter: a goodly price that I was prised at of them. And I took the\nthirty pieces of silver, and cast them to the potter in the house of the\nLORD\u201d (Zechariah 11: 12-13). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He would be put to death by crucifixion. \u201cI am poured\nout like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is\nmelted in the midst of my bowels. My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and\nmy tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death.\nFor dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they\npierced my hands and my feet. I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon\nme. They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture\u201d\n(Psalm 22: 14-18). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
His hands and His feet would be pierced. \u201cFor dogs have\ncompassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my\nhands and my feet\u201d (Psalm 22:16). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Soldiers would cast lots for His clothing. \u201cThey part\nmy garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture\u201d (Psalm 22: 18). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He would be raised from the dead. \u201cTherefore my heart\nis glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope. For thou\nwilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see\ncorruption\u201d (Psalm 16:9-10). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He would ascend into Heaven. \u201cThou hast ascended on\nhigh, thou hast led captivity captive: thou hast received gifts for men; yea,\nfor the rebellious also, that the LORD God might dwell among them\u201d (Psalm\n68: 18)<\/p>\n<\/body>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
