Text:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Philippians 2:5-8<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Intro:\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
-Apostle Paul instructs the believer in v5, that he is to have the same mind as Christ did when he walked this earth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
-V6. \u2013 Paul tells us by the way, Christ Jesus is God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
-They are equal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
-They one and the same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
-1 Tim. 3:16 \u2013 Jesus was \u201cGod manifest in the flesh\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
-V7. \u2013 Begins with \u201cBut\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
-Paul is saying in v7, \u201cDespite Christ Jesus being God, he did not forget why he came to this earth to take upon himself a form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of man.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
-Paul is telling us that Christ had a mind of a servant as evidenced by the two words in v. 8, \u201chumbled\u201d and \u201cobedient\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
-As Christians my dear friends we are to have a servant\u2019s mind like Christ did.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
-Jesus is our example to follow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
-Two important characteristics of a servant is \u201chumility\u201d and \u201cobedience\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
-Jesus displayed them throughout his entire ministry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
-Culminating with his obedience to the Father by His death on the\u00a0 cross.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
-This morning we want to look at three aspects of the servant, Jesus Christ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 THE EXCLAMATION OF A SERVANT<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A. Words of Humility<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 -Mark 10:43-44 \u2013 On how to achieve greatness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0done. \u2013 The Father\u2019s will always put first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 *Cup, Jesus talking about no his death but the Father\u2019s<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 *Earth grew dark for 3 hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 *Jesus cried, \u201cMy God, my God why hast thou forsaken me\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 *At this point God, the Father turned his back on His as<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Jesus was being made sin for us and God\u2019s wrath was being<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0poured\u00a0 out on him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 *God the Father turned His back on the Son because God is<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Holy cannot look upon sin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
II.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 THE EXAMPLE OF A SERVANT<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A.\u00a0 Humility<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 -Footwashing \u2013 Jn. 13:3-5; 12-17.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

III.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 THE EXALTATION OF A SERVANT<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CONCLUSION<\/p>\n\n\n\n
-We have examined the Mind of Christ which we saw is the mind of a servant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
-The mind of a servant is characterized by humility & obedience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
-We heard and saw in Christ:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
*The exclamation of a servant<\/p>\n\n\n\n
*The example of a servant<\/p>\n\n\n\n
*The exaltation of a servant<\/p>\n\n\n\n
-My question to you\u00a0 is Do you possess the mind of Christ, the Servant\u2019s Mind?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
-It\u2019s a humble mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
-It\u2019s an obedient mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
-Would you rather be ministered unto or would you rather minister\u00a0 to others?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
-Would you rather be served or would you rather serve others?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
