Testimonies of God"},"content":{"rendered":"<body>\n<p><strong><u>Text<\/u><\/strong>:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <strong>Genesis 18:17-19<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>Intro<\/u><\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>I believe to have one\u2019s name mentioned in the Bible is extraordinary.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>However, to have the God of the Bible actually provide a testimony in a person\u2019s behalf is hardly imaginable.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When any of us stand in the presence of God<ul><li>We realize as Isaiah did we are\u00a0 <strong>\u201cpeople of unclean lips\u201d<\/strong><\/li><\/ul><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><ul><li>We realize as the Apostle Paul did \u2013 <strong>\u201cO wretched man that I am!\u201d<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>We realize as the Apostle Peter did \u2013 <strong>\u201cI am a sinful man\u201d<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Bible declares \u2013<ul><li><strong>\u201cAs it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one\u201d<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>\u201cFor all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God\u201d<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Despite this God testifies in His Word about some of His Saints.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We want to look at some of <strong>\u201cThe Testimonies of God.\u201d<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>I.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <u>Abraham \u2013 Genesis 18:19<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Notice God\u2019s testimony about Abraham<ul><li>God says, \u201c<strong>For I know him<\/strong>\u201c<\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>God had no doubt about the statement that He was about to make about Abraham.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u201c<strong>that he will command his children and his household after him<\/strong>\u201c<ul><li>God said that Abraham had his family and household in order.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>He rules them well.<\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>They were in complete submission to him because Abraham was in complete submission to God.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u201c<strong>they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment<\/strong>\u201c<ul><li>Abraham was obedient to God and set the example for his family.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>He spent time in instructing his family on the things of the Lord.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li><strong>See Deut. 6:4-9.<\/strong><\/li><\/ul><ul><li>He made sure that his family had a time of devotion each.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>He was not a hypocrite.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>He practiced what he preached.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>His walk matched his talk.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Therefore, Abraham\u2019s family was obedient to God.<\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>As Abraham was just and fair in his business dealings and so would his family.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In fact notice what the Word of God says about Abraham\u2019s relationship with God.<ul><li><strong>See James 2:23<\/strong><\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Can you imagine being called <strong>\u201cThe Friend of God\u201d<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>I believe the reason that Abraham was called The Friend of God is because he was obedient to God.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We see his life of obedience begin when God told him in Genesis 12:1 \u2013 \u201c<strong>Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father\u2019s house, unto a land that I will shew thee<\/strong>:\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We see Abraham\u2019s obedience in Genesis 12:4 \u2013 \u201c<strong>So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him;<\/strong>\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Abraham was not perfect.<ul><li>He was a sinner just like you and me.<\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>However, overall his life reflected a life that was obedient to God.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Abraham had the testimony of <u>OBEDIENCE<\/u> to God<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>II.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <u>Job \u2013 Job 1:8<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Notice God\u2019s testimony about Job \u2013<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>\u201cthere is none like him in the earth\u201d<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Job was in a class all by himself.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>\u201ca perfect and an upright man\u201d<\/strong><ul><li>God did not say Job was sinless.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Job was a perfect man<ul><li>A man who was a mature saint.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>A man who was consistently right with God.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>A man who confessed his sins to God on a regular basis.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Job was an upright man.<ul><li>A man who could be trusted in his business dealings.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>A man who was honest and would never cheat anyone.<\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A man was known as being fair in his business dealings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>\u201cone that feareth God\u201d<\/strong><ul><li>Job had the testimony that he feared God.<\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>That is why he was a perfect and upright man.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Word of God has a lot to say about \u201c<strong>the fear of the Lord\u201d<\/strong><ul><li><strong>\u201cthe fear of the Lord, that is wisdom\u201d<\/strong><\/li><\/ul><ul><li><strong>\u201cthe fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom\u201d<\/strong><\/li><\/ul><ul><li><strong>\u201cthe fear of the Lord prolongeth days\u201d<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>\u201cthe fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death\u201d<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>\u201cescheweth evil\u201d<\/strong><ul><li>Job had the testimony that he avoided evil.<\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Word of God tells us <strong>\u201cto depart from evil is understanding\u201d<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>See James 5:10-11.<\/strong><ul><li>We see that Job had a testimony of being patient when it came to suffering.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>The Word of God tells us in <strong>\u00a0Romans 5:3 \u2013 \u201c\u2026knowing that tribulation worketh patience\u201d<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Job certainly had his share and more of tribulation but through it all he was patient and trusted in God.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Job had the testimony that he <u>FEARED GOD<\/u><\/strong>.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>As a result he was an upright man and avoided evil.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>III.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <u>David \u2013 Acts 13:22<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Notice God\u2019s testimony about David<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>\u201ca man after mine own heart\u201d<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A believe the key word is \u201cheart\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>See Isaiah 66:2<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Notice the kind of man God takes notice of \u2013<ul><li>A man that has a poor and contrite spirit<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>A man that trembles at God\u2019s Word.<\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>David was such man.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>See Psalm 51:17<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Notice the kind of sacrifices that God will not despise\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>\u201cbroken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart\u201d<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You see the reason David was a man after God\u2019s own heart was because he saw sin as God saw sin.<ul><li>Something wicked and vile.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Despite his sins of committing adultery with Bathsheba and having her husband Uriah murder.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>David was still a man after God\u2019s own heart because he acknowledged his sin and took full responsibility for it<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>He confessed his sin to God and was broken hearted because of his sin.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>He asked God for his forgiveness and mercy<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>This evident from <strong>Psalm 51 <\/strong>which he wrote.<\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>David had godly sorrow which worketh repentance to salvation.<ul><li>David was sorrow for offending God.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Not for getting caught.<\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Being sorrow for getting caught is worldly sorrow which worketh death.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Notice also in <strong>Acts 13:22<\/strong> what God has to say about David.<ul><li><strong>\u201cwhich shall fulfil all my will\u201d<\/strong><\/li><\/ul><ul><li>God knew with out a doubt that David was totally submitted to will of God for his life.<\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>God knew whatever He told David to do that he would do it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>David had the testimony of being a <u>MAN AFTER GOD\u2019S OWN HEART.<\/u><\/strong><ul><li>A heart that would weep and hurt over sin that he had committed against God.<\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A man surrendered to the will of God.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>IV.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <u>Mary \u2013 Luke 1:30<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Notice God\u2019s testimony about Mary.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>\u201cfor thou hast found favour with God\u201d<\/strong><ul><li>Mary found kindness with God.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Mary found God\u2019s support.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li><strong>Why you might ask?<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Of all the virgins in Israel why did Mary find favour with God?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Let\u2019s look at some of the statements that Mary made.<ul><li><strong>See Luke 1:38 \u2013 \u201cAnd Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word\u201d<\/strong><\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Mary had a humble spirit.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>She called herself a handmaid of the Lord.<\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A position of servitude and submission.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Most women if they were told that they were going to bring the Saviour of mankind into the world would have been pretty puffed up \u2013 Amen!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If they believed the angel Gabriel to begin with.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mary was submitted to whatever the Lord had for her to do.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Notice something else about Mary.<ul><li>She recognized her lost condition.<\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>See Luke 1:46-47<\/strong><ul><li>Her soul magnified the Lord not herself.<\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>She her spirit rejoiced in God her Saviour.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mary had the testimony of being <u>HUMBLE.<\/u><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mary had the testimony that she would serve the Lord in any way He saw fit.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>Conclusion<\/u><\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>I believe that each one of these testimonies of God should reflect the life of the believer.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I believe each one of us should have the <strong><u>Testimony<\/u><\/strong>:<ul><li>Of being obedient to God as Abraham was.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Of fearing God as Job did to keep us upright and to avoid evil.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Of having a broken and contrite heart over our sin as David did.<\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Of having a heart of humility, totally surrendered to will of God as Mary did.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How about you my dear friend \u2013 <strong>What is God\u2019s Testimony regarding
