{"id":3678,"date":"2024-04-29T23:22:29","date_gmt":"2024-04-29T23:22:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/allthecounselofgod.com\/?p=3678"},"modified":"2024-04-29T23:22:29","modified_gmt":"2024-04-29T23:22:29","slug":"jesus-christ-the-judge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/allthecounselofgod.com\/index.php\/2024\/04\/29\/jesus-christ-the-judge\/","title":{"rendered":"JESUS CHRIST THE JUDGE"},"content":{"rendered":"<body>\n<p><strong>\u201cAnd he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God <em>to be<\/em> the <u>Judge<\/u> of quick and dead.\u201d<\/strong> (Acts 10:42)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><u>Introduction<\/u><\/strong>:<ul><li>Very early in the Word of God the fact is established that God will judge all the earth.<ul><li>\u201cShall not the Judge of all the earth do right?\u201d \u2013 <strong>Gen. 18:25<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>\u201cThe adversaries of the Lord shall be broken to pieces; out of heaven shall he thunder upon them: The Lord shall judge the ends of the earth; and he shall give strength unto his king, and exalt the horn of his anointed.\u201d \u2013 <strong>I Sam. 2: 10<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>One does not have to go as far as the New Testament to determine that the person of the Godhead who will be the Righteous Judge will be none other than Jesus Christ \u2013 <strong>Ps. 110<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>I.\u00a0\u00a0 <u>THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF A JUDGE<\/u><\/strong><ul><li><strong>A.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 To be righteous<\/strong> \u2013 (<strong>Ps. 96:10,13; 97:2<\/strong>)<ul><li>Two things may be said in the consideration of the Righteousness and Justice of God:<ul><li>First, there is the imposing of righteousness laws and demands, which may be called legislative holiness, and may be known as the Righteousness of God;<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Second, there is the executing of the penalties attached to those laws, which may be called judicial holiness.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>So that in the Righteousness of God we have His love of holiness, and in the Justice of God, His hatred of sin.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><ul><li><strong>B.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 To determine the truth<\/strong>\u2013<ul><li>-The Old Testament judge was to \u201cmake diligent inquisition\u201d to find the truth (<strong>Deut. 19:16-21<\/strong>)<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>-The truth finding process is laid down wonderfully in type in (<strong>1 Kings 3:16-28<\/strong>), when Solomon exercised the wisdom of God (<strong>I Kings 3:28<\/strong>).<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>\u2013 See also (<strong>Jn. 8:16,26<\/strong>)<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><ul><li><strong>C.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 To be compassionate-<\/strong><ul><li>\u201cGracious is the Lord, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful\u201d (<strong>Ps. 116:5<\/strong>).<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Nowhere has the righteous mercy of Jesus been better displayed than when He dealt with the adulterous woman in (<strong>Jn. 8:1-11<\/strong>).<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><ul><li><strong>D.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 To listen to the defendant-<\/strong><ul><li>\u201cRighteous art thou, 0 Lord, when I plead with thee: yet let me talk with thee of Judgments:\u201d (<strong>Jer. 12:1<\/strong>).<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>In (<strong>Lk. 19:20-22<\/strong>) the Lord judged the man based on the testimony of his own mouth.<ul><li>\u201cAnd he saith unto him, Out of thine own mouth wit! I judge thee, thou wicked servant.\u201d<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><ul><li><strong>E.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 To determine motives-<\/strong><ul><li>-The rich young man cloaked impure motives with spiritual language (<strong>Matt. 19:16-22<\/strong>).<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>-All of (<strong>Matt. 23<\/strong>) is a dissertation of Jesus exposing the impure motives of religious Pharisees.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><ul><li><strong>F.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 To be fair in judgment-<\/strong><ul><li>-The widow was poor, but judged fairly by Jesus (<strong>Luke 21:1-4<\/strong>).<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>-(See also <strong>Isa. 11:4<\/strong>)<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>G.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 To reward righteousness-<\/strong><ul><li>\u201cHenceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day, and not me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.\u201d (<strong>2 Tim. 4:8<\/strong>)<\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>-(See also <strong>Heb. 6:10<\/strong>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>II. <u>HOW THE RIGHTEOUSNESS AND JUSTICE OF GOD IS<\/u><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>REVEALED<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>A.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In the punishment of the wicked<\/strong>.<ul><li>-David reminds his timid advisers, who encourage him to flee, that there is a God who will judge the acts of the wicked men who seek his life. (<strong>Ps. 11<\/strong>)<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>-Pharaoh even recognized his wickedness and stated the plague of hail was justly sent (<strong>Ex. 9:22-27<\/strong>).<ul><li>See also (<strong>Dan. 9:12-14; Rev. 16:5,6<\/strong>)<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><ul><li>How careful sinners ought to be not to fall into the hands of the righteous Judge!<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>No sinner at last will be able to say, \u201cI did not deserve this punishment.\u201d<\/li><\/ul><ul><li><strong>B.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In forgiving the sins of the penitent.
