{"id":3699,"date":"2024-06-10T16:21:58","date_gmt":"2024-06-10T16:21:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/allthecounselofgod.com\/?p=3699"},"modified":"2024-06-10T16:21:58","modified_gmt":"2024-06-10T16:21:58","slug":"master","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/allthecounselofgod.com\/index.php\/2024\/06\/10\/master\/","title":{"rendered":"MASTER"},"content":{"rendered":"<body>\n<p><strong>\u201cThen certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee.\u201d<\/strong> (Matthew 12:38)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><u>Text<\/u><\/strong>:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <strong>Matthew 12:38<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><u>Introduction<\/u><\/strong>:<ul><li>Although there are many definitions of \u201cmaster\u201d, the primary one in Websters Dictionary is, \u201cA man who rules, governs, or directs, either men or business.<ul><li>A man who owns slaves is their master; he who has servants is their Master; he who has apprentices is their master, as he has the government and direction of them.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>The man who superintends and directs any business, is master, or master workman.\u201d<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><ul><li>The Bible gives the same kind of definition, i.e.; \u201cServants be subject to your master with all fear;\u201d (<strong>1 Pet. 2:18<\/strong>).<\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It is a title that is used by the lesser acknowledging the greater \u2013 (<strong>Matt. 8:19; 10:24<\/strong>).\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The general public that has the opportunity to observe our lives, acknowledges who our master is \u2013 (<strong>Matt. 9:11; 17:24<\/strong>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>I.\u00a0\u00a0 <u>THE POSSIBLE HYPOCRISY IN THE WORD<\/u><\/strong><ul><li><strong>A.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sign Seekers<\/strong> \u2013 (<strong>Matt. 12:38<\/strong>)<ul><li>Acknowledging Christ as Master and asking Him for a sign at the same time is a contradiction (<strong>Prov. 27-18; 30:10<\/strong>).<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><ul><li><strong>B.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Those who lie for their own gain<\/strong> \u2013 (<strong>Matt. 26:25<\/strong>)<ul><li>Judas betrayed Christ for 30 pieces of silver and called Him Master.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><ul><li><strong>C.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Those who attempt a trap<\/strong> \u2013 (<strong>Mk. 12:13-17<\/strong>)<ul><li>There are many who claim to be Christians, yet disdain the words of Christ and look for so-called Bible contradictions.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>D.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Those who Attempt to humanize God<\/strong> \u2013 (<strong>Mk. 10:17<\/strong>)<ul><li>This is the only occasion where someone uses the word \u201cgood\u201d to precede master, even as people today use the term \u201cthe Good Lord\u201d.<\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>i.e.: \u201cThe Good Lord wouldn\u2019t send anybody to Hell\u201d.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>II. <u>WHY DO SOME NOT WANT A \u201cMASTER\u201d?<\/u><\/strong><ul><li><strong>A.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 To avoid rebuke<\/strong> \u2013 (<strong>Lk. 11:45<\/strong>)<ul><li>\u201cReprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.\u201d (<strong>Prov. 9:8<\/strong>)<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>\u201cHe that rebuketh a man afterwards shall find more favour than he that flattereth with the tongue.\u201d (<strong>Prov. 28:23<\/strong>)<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><ul><li><strong>B.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 To avoid the call to service by faith<\/strong> \u2013 (<strong>Mk. 14:13,14<\/strong>)<ul><li>Often Jesus calls on men to serve Him by going to a situation full of unknowns.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><ul><li><strong>C.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 To avoid following His example<\/strong> \u2013 (<strong>Jn. 13:14-17<\/strong>)<ul><li>Jesus has led the way by example to what many would consider degrading duty.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>We are to try to follow.<ul><li>\u201cThe disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master.\u201d (<strong>Lk. 6:40<\/strong>)<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>D.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 To avoid going the extra mile<\/strong> \u2013 (<strong>Lk. 5:5<\/strong>)\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u201cAnd let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.\u201d (<strong>Gal. 6:9<\/strong>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>III.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <u>THE RESULTS OF HAVING CHRIST AS YOUR MASTER<\/u><\/strong><ul><li><strong><u>Note<\/u><\/strong>:<ul><li>It should be noted that everyone has in reality one master \u2013 either the Lord or Satan.<ul><li>\u201cNo man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other.
