Intro:
How many would like to not fulfill the lust of the flesh?\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n
\n
To not fulfill the lust of the flesh, we need to examine and follow what Paul wrote in Gal 5:16-26 about the flesh and Spirit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
The lust of the flesh.<\/strong>\n
\n
It\u2019s there; it\u2019s always there; it takes nothing to cultivate it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
The antagonism of the flesh.<\/strong>\u00a0(Antagonism is opposition of a conflicting force).\u00a0\u00a0Concerning the flesh and Spirit, the flesh is opposed to the Spirit.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
Always contrary.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
It doesn\u2019t make any difference how justified you feel in your actions or how spiritual you may want to be in everything else you do.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
If it\u2019s flesh, it\u2019s flesh.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n
\n
And it\u2019s contrary to the Spirit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
The works of the flesh.\u00a0<\/strong>\n
\n
We will look at and defined what they are later in our study<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
The result of fulfilling the lust of the flesh.<\/strong>
You can\u2019t do the things that you would, v.17<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul>\n
\n
And you will lose your inheritance in the Kingdom of God, v.21<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Our instructions to keep from fulfilling the lust of the flesh:<\/strong>Live in the Spirit<\/strong>, v.25<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0
That is, you must be saved.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
To pretend to be saved when you aren\u2019t saved is ridiculous.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
\u00a0You live as a miserable hypocrite and then die and go to hell because you\u2019re lost.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>
Walk in the Spirit<\/strong>, v.16<\/a>, 25<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0
Concerning the flesh and Spirit, the Spirit is contrary to the flesh; they are mutually exclusive.<\/li><\/ul>
Walk in the Spirit every single step of the way.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
You start out like a kid learning to walk.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
The scripture teaches you and the Spirit guides you.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
Be patient; it takes time.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n

The result of walking in the Spirit<\/strong>, v.22-23<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0
You start seeing the fruit of the Spirit in your life.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n
\n
Love Joy Peace Longsuffering Gentleness Goodness Faith Meekness Temperance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
This is fruit.\u00a0\u00a0
It takes time for fruit to grow and mature.<\/li><\/ul>
You have loved and experienced joy, and put up with other peoples\u2019 stuff, and so forth.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
But until the Holy Spirit has produced this in you, you really don\u2019t know what it is because the flesh can\u2019t produce it or imitate it.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n
\n
Concerning the flesh and Spirit, their love is completely different, their joy is absolutely different, their peace is totally different, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
If you try to fake it, then your fruit is like artificial fruit on the coffee table.\u00a0\u00a0
It looks good on the outside, but as soon as you pick it up you know there\u2019s something wrong with it.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
Likewise, the same is true with the flesh faking spirituality.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n
\n
Don\u2019t mistake that for spirituality.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Conclusion:<\/em>
The remedy is to walk in the Spirit.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
Walk in the Spirit and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
The Spirit produces things in you that far exceed every lust of the flesh.<\/li><\/ul>
Whether it\u2019s the flesh\u2019s covetousness, envy, lasciviousness, vengeance, rebellion, pride, or sinful desire, the fruit of the Spirit is far better.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
And it is incomparable.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n
\n
Concerning the flesh and Spirit, nothing in the flesh gives you even a sample of what you will see in the fruit of the Spirit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
You can\u2019t put down the flesh.\u00a0\u00a0
But the Spirit can crucify the flesh, v.24<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
You may want to destroy the flesh for it\u2019s works.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
It makes you think you\u2019re going to die if you don\u2019t give in to it\u2019s lusts and demands.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
Crucify it.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
The Spirit puts you in Christ who died.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
\u00a0And you die with him in Christ.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
Go ahead and die.<\/li><\/ul>
It won\u2019t KILL you.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
Paul said, \u201cI am crucified with Christ nevertheless I live\u2026. Christ liveth in me\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n
\n
That\u2019s the Spirit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Conclusion:\n
\n
Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
The works of the flesh (defined).<\/strong>
The first four are\u00a0sexual and sensual.\u00a0\u00a0
Adultery \u2013 committed with the eyes, heart, Matt 5:28<\/a>, as well as with the body.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>
Fornication \u2013 the act.\u00a0\u00a0Premarital sex is fornication.\u00a0\u00a0See 1 Cor 6:13-20<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul>
Uncleanness, 2 Cor 7:1<\/a> says \u201clet us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit\u201d: filthy mind, filthy mouth, filthy habits.\u00a0\u00a0
Your spirit is defiled by what you see.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n
\n
Lasciviousness \u2013 preoccupied with or exhibiting lustful desires; lewd = loose; voluptuous emotions = Full of pleasure, sensual gratification, exciting sensual desires.\n
\n
Mega churches mistake lasciviousness for the liberty of the Spirit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Result of Violating 1st command<\/em>. Idolatry.We can easily see it in idolatrous religions.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
But can we see it in ourselves?\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n
\n
Covetousness is idolatry, Col 3:5<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Witchcraft.\u00a0\u00a0See Acts 13:6<\/a>, 8<\/a>, 10<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0
Today you see on TikTok and Instagram an increased visibility of witchcraft.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n
\n
You see it in Movies, TV.\u00a0\u00a0Wicca.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Result of Violating 2nd command.
Hatred.\u00a0\u00a0 Prov 26:24-25<\/a> He that hateth dissembleth with his lips, and layeth up deceit within him.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n
\n
When he speaketh fair, believe him not: for there are seven abominations in his heart.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Variance \u2013 at variance, in disagreement.\u00a0\u00a0Produces discord.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Emulations \u2013 contentions, rivalries, acts of attempting to excel in qualities.\n
\n
One ups.\u00a0\u00a0Not of the Spirit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Wrath \u2013 indignation, violent anger.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Murders.\u00a0\u00a0Not only killing but hating, 1 John 3:15<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Result of Earthly wisdom (<\/em>Jas 3:14-16<\/a>)<\/em>\u00a0Strife \u2013 opposition, contrariety.\u00a0\u00a0No matter which side you take, they take the other.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Seditions \u2013 incitements of resistance to lawful authority.\n\n
\u00a0I don\u2019t care how right you think you are, these are not from the Spirit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Heresies \u2013 opinions, doctrines, or practices contrary to the truth.\u00a0\u00a0
The doctrine as taught by the Holy Spirit is always the same.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n
\n
The temptation to be the new kid on the block with the new deep revelation of doctrine is of the flesh.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Envyings \u2013 painful or resentful awareness of an advantage enjoyed by another joined with a desire to possess the same advantage.\u00a0\u00a0
You\u2019ll tear them down if you can\u2019t beat them.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n
\n
Not of the Spirit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Contrast Jas 3:13<\/a>, 17<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Result of sowing to the flesh. Drunkenness \u2013 Eph 5:18<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Revellings \u2013 wild parties. Eph 5:11<\/a> the unfruitful works of darkness.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
And such like.
Drugs, porn, etc.\u00a0\u00a0In other words, this list is not exhaustive.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n

It just gives you the kinds of things that are manifested as works of the flesh.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Concerning the flesh and Spirit, none of these are from the Spirit of God.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/body>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
