Text<\/strong>: Matt 10:39<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Intro<\/strong>:When Jesus sent his twelve disciples out to preach and to heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, and cast out devils, Matt 10:7-8<\/a>, he also gave them warnings and instructions for their ministry.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
In Matt 10:39<\/a>, after telling them that they must love him more than their own family, take up their cross and follow him, Matt 10:37-38<\/a>, he told them that \u201che that loseth his life, for my sake shall find it.\u201d\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n
\n
This is a doctrine in the Bible that we must learn and follow.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
You lose your life to find it<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Matt 10:39<\/a> \u2013
In Jer 38:17-23<\/a>, Jeremiah told Zedekiah, the king, that the only way he could spare his life and keep Jerusalem from being burned with fire was to go willingly into captivity in Babylon.\u00a0 He had to lose his life to save it.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
Zedekiah refused.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
Therefore, all his sons were slain before him, his eyes were put out, he was carried to Babylon, and then the city was burned, Jer 39:5-8<\/a>.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n

He tried to save his life and lost it. \u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
In Luke 17:24-33<\/a>, right before the return of the Lord Jesus Christ, Jews will have to flee their houses and fields without turning back to get anything they own, or else they will lose their lives.\u00a0
They will find their lives by losing them.\u00a0 In 1910, a boy was born in Germany, into a prosperous Jewish family.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
He was one of four siblings.\u00a0 In 1930, his sister immigrated to Palestine.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
Germany was very developed and Palestine was very undeveloped.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
However, in 1933, he also immigrated to Palestine, due to his concerns about Hitler\u2019s anti-semitic views.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
By 1939, it was becoming evident to the world that Jews were being exterminated.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
That same year, he received a letter from one of his German friends who was now in the Gestapo. Included with the letter was a two-week pass to come to Berlin and rescue his family from their planned extermination.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
He pled with his family to leave with him and save their lives.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
They didn\u2019t want to leave their homes and possessions, so they didn\u2019t go with him.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
They were all murdered.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n

If they had lost their lives, they would have preserved them.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
In Gal 2:20<\/a>, we are to be crucified with Christ to live.\u00a0
Jesus had to die to bring forth much fruit, John 12:24<\/a>.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
And we must die to live.\u00a0 Paul said, \u201cI die daily,\u201d 1 Cor 15:31<\/a>.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
The reason Christians don\u2019t live the abundant life that Jesus promised in John 10:10<\/a> is that they aren\u2019t willing to part with the life they have now.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
If you want to find this abundant life, you have to lose your life.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n

In Mk 10:28-30<\/a>, Jesus told Peter that men receive a hundredfold of whatever they lose for Jesus\u2019 sake and the gospel\u2019s. \u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
You lose your wealth to find it<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Heb 11:26<\/a> \u2013
Moses esteemed \u201cthe reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompense of the reward.\u201d\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
He knew there was a reward for leaving everything he had in Pharaoh\u2019s palace.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
In Mk 10:21<\/a>, Jesus told the rich young ruler that if he would sell all he had and give it to the poor, he would have treasure in heaven.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
Jesus guaranteed him that if he would lose his wealth he would find it.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
Prov 19:17<\/a> says, \u201cHe that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the Lord; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.\u201d\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
Prov 13:7<\/a> says, \u201cThere is that maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing: there is that maketh himself poor, yet hath great riches.\u201d\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
The greatest investment you can make is to give to the Lord.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
There is absolutely no safe haven for money on earth.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n
\n
One way or the other, you\u2019ll lose it all unless you give it to the Lord.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
You lose your pleasure to find it<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Heb 11:25<\/a> \u2013
Moses left the seasonal pleasures of sin to find real pleasure in the presence of the Lord.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
Psa 16:11<\/a> says, \u201cThou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.\u201d\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
Moses was in the presence of the Lord.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
They conversed \u201cface to face, as a man speaketh unto\u00a0 his friend,\u201d Ex 33:11<\/a>. \u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
In Ex 33:18-23<\/a>, God\u2019s glory passed by Moses and he saw it.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
In Zech 4:14<\/a>, Moses is one of the two anointed ones, \u201cthat stand by the Lord of the whole earth.\u201d<\/li><\/ul>
And in Mk 10:35-40<\/a>, Moses will be sitting beside Jesus Christ in his glory, enjoying \u201cpleasures for evermore,\u201d Ps 16:11<\/a>.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
In Lk 6:20-26<\/a>, we see the contrast between those who get their pleasure from the world now and those who wait to receive their reward later.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
One will rejoice and the other will mourn.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
Notice that the ones who lose their pleasure now are also the ones who begin to \u201cleap for joy,\u201d now.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n
\n
The pleasure begins now and the reward comes later.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Conclusion<\/strong>:
These three examples are so contrary to how the world seeks life, wealth and pleasure, that worldly Christians will never believe what the Bible says about how to have life, wealth and pleasure.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
You\u2019re as unbelieving as the Jewish family in Berlin.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n
\n
And you are just as wrong as they were.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
