Text: 2 Peter 2:18-21<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Intro:
- How\u00a0Christians fall.\u00a0 How is it that a good Christian can go along, seemingly doing fine, and then one day you find him backslidden and almost unrecoverable for any beneficial fellowship with or work for the Lord?\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n
  - They get tripped up by a false teacher<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 2 Pet 2:1<\/a>, 2 Pet 1:18-21<\/a> \u2013
    They had \u201cclean escaped from them who live in error\u201d and they had \u201cescaped the pollutions of the world.\u201d\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
    Then some teacher comes along in a college classroom or in a pulpit or in a Christian book and with \u201cgreat swelling words of vanity\u201d promises him \u201cliberty,\u201d by alluring \u201cthrough the lust of the flesh.\u201d\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
    The poor fellow doesn\u2019t realize that the professor is the servant \u201cof corruption\u201d and before he knows it he is \u201covercome\u201d and \u201cbrought in bondage.\u201d\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n

    At that point he is worse off than before knowing the way of righteousness.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    They get tripped up by the devil<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 2 Tim 2:22-26<\/a> \u2013
    They don\u2019t flee youthful lusts and, as a result, they unknowingly \u201coppose themselves.\u201d\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
    They quit acknowledging the truth and soon they are in \u201cthe snare of the devil\u201d and they \u201care taken captive by him at his will.\u201d\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
    That snare may lay there for months or even years before the devil pulls it.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n
    \n
    But when he does, they will not be able to \u201crecover themselves\u201d unless the Lord gives \u201cthem repentance to the acknowledging of the truth.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    They get tripped up by the Lord<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Rom 1:21-32<\/a> \u2013
    They quit glorifying God and they become ungrateful.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
    Like evolutionists they begin to worship and serve \u201cthe creature more than the Creator.\u201d\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
    Through this process, God gives them \u201cup to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts,\u201d then God gives them \u201cup unto vile affections,\u201d and then God gives \u201cthem over to a reprobate mind.\u201d\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
    You see, in this case, it\u2019s not the false teacher or the devil that trips them up over their lusts, it is the Lord.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n

    They don\u2019t like to \u201cretain God in their knowledge\u201d and so God gives them up.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    Conclusion:
    This is how Christians fall.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
    The thing to do is to walk in the Spirit so you will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh [Gal 5:16-17<\/a>].\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n

    There is a war going on between the flesh and the Spirit and if you don\u2019t let the Spirit have the upper hand by walking in Him, then you are set up for either a false teacher, the devil or the Lord to trip you up.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/body>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
