If we can disclose your typical\u00a0responses to sin, we may be able to shed enough light on it to help us break some of the bad habits weu have.\u00a0 We\u2019re going to look at\u00a0what you do when you sin:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
You Hide Yourself<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Gen 3:6-10 \u2013
\u00a0\u201che that covereth his sins shall not prosper,\u201d [Prov 28:13] \u2013<\/li><\/ul>\n
\n
you\u2019ll hide when you first commit certain sins and then you\u2019ll hide and pretend that you didn\u2019t.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
You Excuse Yourself<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Gen 3:11-13 \u2013
you\u2019ll admit that you did something but you will blame someone else or something else for it \u2013<\/li><\/ul>\n

people commonly excuse their sins by saying things like:
I didn\u2019t know [God\u2019s ready for that one Rom 1:18-21]<\/li><\/ul>
I can\u2019t help it<\/li><\/ul>
Everyone else is doing it<\/li><\/ul>
God won\u2019t deliver me from it [so it\u2019s his fault]<\/li><\/ul>\n
\n
I didn\u2019t mean to<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
You Justify Yourself<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Job 32:1-2; 35:2 \u2013
you reason that you are justified in doing what you\u2019ve done \u2013<\/li><\/ul>\n
\n
you\u2019ll say things like:
There\u2019s nothing wrong with me or with what I\u2019m doing<\/li><\/ul>
Who are you to tell me that what I\u2019m doing is wrong<\/li><\/ul>\n
\n
You think I\u2019m bad; you ought to see what he\u2019s doing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
You Deceive Yourself<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 1 Jn 1:8 \u2013
you\u2019ll admit to yourself that there\u2019s no use fighting this sin; you\u2019re just going to have to live with it \u2013<\/li><\/ul>
or you\u2019ll go like the rest of modern Christianity and think, \u201cGod loves me and doesn\u2019t mind what I\u2019m doing \u2013<\/li><\/ul>\n
\n
some will even go totally doctrinal and think, \u201cI\u2019m already righteous and I\u2019m already forgiven so there\u2019s no need to do anything about this sin because it is already done at Calvary.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
You Sacrifice for Yourself\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 Ps 4:4-5 \u2013
it\u2019s kind of like penance, the habit we got into in Catholicism, confession on Saturday, Eucharist on Sunday, and business as usual on Monday \u2013<\/li><\/ul>
sacrifices don\u2019t make you righteous \u2013<\/li><\/ul>
you are righteous and then you offer sacrifices \u2013<\/li><\/ul>
look at Jesus; compare Abel and Cain [Heb 11:4; 1 Jn 3:12] \u2013<\/li><\/ul>
compare Saul [1 Sam 15:22-23] and David [Ps 51:17-19] \u2013<\/li><\/ul>
look at Christians [Heb 13:15-16; 1 Pet 2:5] \u2013<\/li><\/ul>
so for you to do some sort of \u201cmake-up\u201d deed for Christ to relieve your conscience until you commit that sin again is not working \u2013<\/li><\/ul>
Heb 10:10-14 is all that God will accept \u2013<\/li><\/ul>\n

he doesn\u2019t want your sacrifice so that you can feel righteous; he wants your obedience.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Conclusion:<\/strong>\n

You Need to Confess and Forsake Them<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Prov 28:13 \u2013\n
\n
to confess your sins is to admit HONESTLY before the Lord that you sinned and then you are, by God\u2019s blood, grace, fear and love, to forsake your sin.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
Quit those merry-go-round habits you do and respond God\u2019s way!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
