Text:\u00a0 <\/strong>Prov. 2:1-6<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Intro<\/strong>:Many people get saved and then they stagnate.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
The reason is that they don\u2019t find the knowledge of God.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
In other words, they know Jesus as their Saviour but that\u2019s all they know.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
We say, \u201cRead your Bible and come to church.\u201d\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n
\n
They start but they soon give up because they don\u2019t \u201cget it.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Today we\u2019re going to see what finding the knowledge of God takes so that you can grow beyond the principles of the doctrine of Christ [Heb 6:1<\/a>] and go on unto perfection.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
The process of finding the knowledge of God<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Prov 2:1-3<\/a> \u2013
\u201cReceive my words\u201d \u2013 through reading, preaching and teaching \u2013
This is absorbing the words and believing them.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>
\u201cHide my commandments\u201d \u2013 Ps 119:11<\/a> \u2013
Not just memorizing them but getting to know them so well that you can obey them without having to look them up \u2013<\/li><\/ul>
These \u201ccommands\u201d will guide you.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>
\u201cIncline thine ear unto wisdom\u201d \u2013
That is to pay close attention to and listen willingly to wisdom by cutting out all of the commotion and distractions that compete.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>
\u201cApply thine heart to understanding\u201d-
That is to employ yourself diligently to \u2013<\/li><\/ul>
Often you don\u2019t understand something in the Bible because you haven\u2019t \u201cworked at it\u201d hard enough to understand \u2013<\/li><\/ul>
Other times your lack of understanding may be due to disobedience [Job 28:28<\/a>].<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n
\n
\u201cCriest after knowledge\u201d \u2013 this is prayer, which leads to the next point.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
The prayer for finding the knowledge of God<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Prov 2:3<\/a> \u2013
See Prov 2:6<\/a>; Jas 1:5<\/a>; Lk 24:32<\/a>, 45<\/a> \u2013
You aren\u2019t going to understand this Book unless the Lord gives you the understanding [Prov 2:6<\/a>] \u2013<\/li><\/ul>
So pray to him for knowledge.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>
While we\u2019re on this point notice the triad of wisdom, understanding and knowledge \u2013
Prov 2:2-3<\/a>; 2:6<\/a>; 2:10-11<\/a>; 1:2-4<\/a>; 3:19-20<\/a>; 24:3-4<\/a> \u2013<\/li><\/ul>
These three show up together in many different places \u2013<\/li><\/ul>
They are briefly described as follows:<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>
Knowledge \u2013 FACTS \u2013 the \u201cwhat\u201d of what you know<\/li><\/ul>
Understanding \u2013 FAITH \u2013 the \u201chow\u201d of what you know<\/li><\/ul>\n
\n
Wisdom \u2013 FEAR \u2013 the \u201cwho\u201d of what you know [Prov 1:7<\/a>]<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
The pursuit of finding the knowledge of God<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Prov 2:4<\/a> \u2013 \u201cseekest her\u2026 searchest for her\u201d \u2013\n
\n
We are to seek for the knowledge of God as we would seek for silver or search for a hidden treasure \u2013
These two admonitions show you the significance of what you are after \u2013<\/li><\/ul>\n
\n
They show you the:
Value of the knowledge of God<\/li><\/ul>
Work involved in finding the knowledge of God<\/li><\/ul>
Time involved \u2013 years<\/li><\/ul>
Persistence it takes \u2013 stay with it<\/li><\/ul>
Difficulty involved \u2013 it\u2019s hidden<\/li><\/ul>\n
\n
Goal of finding the knowledge of God \u2013 you will find it<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
The prerequisite of finding the knowledge of God<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Prov 2:5<\/a> \u2013 \u201cthe fear of the Lord\u201d \u2013
Prov 9:10<\/a>; Job 28:28<\/a> \u2013<\/li><\/ul>
You say, \u201cI don\u2019t understand\u201d \u2013<\/li><\/ul>
You won\u2019t until you do the first three things and then when you do those you will understand the fear of the Lord \u2013<\/li><\/ul>\n

It is something no one else can quite explain to you \u2013 you must know it for yourself.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
The promise of finding the knowledge of God<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Prov 2:5 \u2013 \u201cand find the knowledge of God\u201d \u2013
You will find it \u2013<\/li><\/ul>
Seeking to find the knowledge of God is not a vain pursuit \u2013<\/li><\/ul>
We try every way we can to help you with Sunday school lessons, Sunday morning and evening preaching, Wednesday Bible study, radio broadcasts, internet posts, and men\u2019s and women\u2019s Bible studies<\/li><\/ul>\n

BUT we cannot do your work for you!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Conclusion<\/u><\/strong>:\n
