Intro:<\/strong>We have been studying the tongue.According to Jas 3:8 it is an unruly evil.\u00a0Today, we are going<\/a> to study the flattering, backbiting, piercing .\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n

Notice the unruly evil of a<\/em><\/strong>:<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Flattering tongue<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Ps 5:9<\/a> \u2013 \u201cthey flatter with their tongue.\u201d\u00a0
Don\u2019t flatter others.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
God despises the use of flattery [Job 32:22<\/a>; Psa 12:3<\/a>].\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
If you flatter others, your children won\u2019t know how to judge character [Job 17:5<\/a>]. \u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
And don\u2019t believe others when they flatter you.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
They are lying to you [Prov 26:28<\/a>].\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
They\u2019re trying to trip you up to get to you [Prov 29:5<\/a>].\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
Be particularly careful of a woman who will flatter you [Prov 2:16<\/a>; 7:5<\/a>].\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n

Look how the strange woman in Prov 7:21<\/a> brought the young man down with flattery.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Backbiting tongue<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Rom 1:30<\/a> \u2013 look at the company backbiters keep in Rom 1.\u00a0
To backbite is to slander, reproach or speak evil of someone who is absent.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
Don\u2019t talk behind other peoples\u2019 backs.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
If you can\u2019t tell them straight to their face, then don\u2019t say it.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
In the Old Testament, a man\u2019s righteousness was demonstrated, in part, by how he kept his tongue [Psa 15:1-5<\/a>].\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
If someone is backbiting you, Prov 25:23<\/a> shows you how to handle them<\/li><\/ul>
\u201cThe north wind driveth away rain: so doth an angry countenance a backbiting tongue.\u201d\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n

You\u2019re going to see a lot of evolutionists scatter when they come face to face with the Creator after all the lies they\u2019ve told about him. \u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Piercing tongue<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Psa 57:4<\/a> \u2013 David said, \u201cMy soul is among lions: and I lie even among them that are set on fire, even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.\u201d\u00a0
You are seeing this kind of tongue on display every single day now.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
In Prov 12:18<\/a>, Solomon said, \u201cThere is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword.\u201d\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
In both of these verses, the perpetrators, if they could, would kill others with their tongues.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
In fact, they are literally trying to destroy them with their words.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n

We say about a person with this kind of tongue, \u201cHe is always cutting people down.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Conclusion<\/strong>:<\/strong>
If someone flatters you don\u2019t believe him for a second.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
They\u2019re setting a trap for you.\u00a0 If someone is backbiting you, don\u2019t react.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
But when you see them, let them see your angry countenance.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
And know for certain that if you are trying to live in a right relationship with God, there will be those who will speak against you with a piercing tongue.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>
It just goes with the territory.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n
