{"id":4535,"date":"2026-10-03T19:01:11","date_gmt":"2026-10-03T19:01:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/allthecounselofgod.com\/?p=4535"},"modified":"2026-10-03T19:02:01","modified_gmt":"2026-10-03T19:02:01","slug":"a-proud-naughty-tongue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/allthecounselofgod.com\/index.php\/2026\/10\/03\/a-proud-naughty-tongue\/","title":{"rendered":"A Proud Naughty Tongue"},"content":{"rendered":"<body>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Text<\/strong>: Ps 12:3<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Intro<\/strong>:<ul><li>This is the third in a series on the unruly evil of the tongue [Jas 3:8].\u00a0<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>There are many things that can come out of our mouths that are contrary to God and harmful to others.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Today we are going to\u00a0<em>study the proud, froward, naughty, raging tongue<\/em>. \u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Proud tongue<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Ps 12:3 \u2013<ul><li>This is the tongue of those who are proud, those whom God resists [Jas 4:6].\u00a0<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>According to Ps 12:3, \u201cThe Lord shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speakest proud things.\u201d\u00a0<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>David said that the Lord is going to cut that tongue off.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>He\u2019s letting their proud tongues wag right now.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>But he\u2019ll shut them down in due time.\u00a0 Read Ps 2:1-5, 9.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>They\u2019ll be taken in their pride [Ps 59:12].\u00a0<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>You can tell this tongue because it uses the words \u201cI\u201d and \u201cMe\u201d a lot.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>It is a tongue that demands its own way and always speaks as if it is right.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>But do you know what the Lord says?\u00a0<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>It is the tongue of a fool.\u00a0 Prov 14:3 \u201cIn the mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride.\u201d\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Nabal, in 1 Sam 25:10-11, 14-17 is an example of a man with a proud tongue.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Froward tongue<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Prov 10:31 \u2013 \u201cthe froward tongue shall be cut out.\u201d\u00a0<ul><li>Like the proud tongue, the Lord is going to cut this tongue out, as well.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>A froward tongue is not easily controlled; it\u2019s stubbornly willful, ungovernable.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>James said, \u201cthe tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison,\u201d [Jas 3:8].\u00a0<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Job\u2019s three friends are examples of men with froward tongues.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Look at these references: Job 4:1-2; Job 11:1-3; Job 15:1-3; and Job 20:1-3.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>When Job spoke about his trial, they couldn\u2019t resist commenting.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>And look what the Lord said about them in Job 42:7.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>They weren\u2019t right.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Naughty tongue\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 Prov 17:4 \u2013 \u201ca liar giveth ear to a naughty tongue.\u201d\u00a0<ul><li>A naughty tongue is wicked, bad, and evil.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>You see this tongue a lot in Hollywood movies, bars, and politics.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Stay away from this tongue.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Eph 5:3-4, 11-12 are excellent verses that warn us from speaking with such a tongue.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>The Pharisees are an example of men with a naughty tongue.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>See Jesus\u2019 comments in Matt 12:31-37.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Raging tongue\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 Hos 7:16 \u2013 \u201ctheir princes shall fall by the sword for the rage of their tongue.\u201d\u00a0<ul><li>This is the uncontrolled, angry tongue.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>This is the tongue that fumes with anger.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Shimei is an example of a man with a raging tongue [2 Sam 16:5-8, 13].\u00a0<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>\u00a0Don\u2019t rage at others.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Get control of your spirit through temperance and then speak without raging [Ecc 7:9].\u00a0<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>And when others are in a rage against you, don\u2019t reply.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You\u2019ll end up in a rock fight that you cannot win.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Conclusion<\/strong>:<ul><li>These are descriptions of the tongue that is an unruly evil.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>This is the tongue of the natural man.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>When you get saved, the Lord wants to fix your tongue and make it the tongue of a righteous man.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u201cThe lips of the righteous know what is acceptable,\u201d [Prov 10:32].\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/body>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Text: Ps 12:3<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"om_disable_all_campaigns":false,"_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"_jetpack_newsletter_access":"","_jetpack_dont_email_post_to_subs":false,"_jetpack_newsletter_tier_id":0,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_feature_clip_id":0,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":"","jetpack_publicize_message":"","jetpack_publicize_feature_enabled":true,"jetpack_social_post_already_shared":true,"jetpack_social_options":{"image_generator_settings":{"template":"highway","default_image_id":0,"font":"","enabled":false},"version":2},"jetpack_post_was_ever_published":false},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-4535","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-general"],"jetpack_publicize_connections":[],"jetpack_sharing_enabled":true,"jetpack_shortlink":"https:\/\/wp.me\/pa5oei-1b9","jetpack_featured_media_url":"","_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/allthecounselofgod.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/4535","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/allthecounselofgod.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/allthecounselofgod.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/allthecounselofgod.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/allthecounselofgod.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=4535"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/allthecounselofgod.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/4535\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":4536,"href":"https:\/\/allthecounselofgod.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/4535\/revisions\/4536"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/allthecounselofgod.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=4535"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/allthecounselofgod.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=4535"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/allthecounselofgod.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=4535"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
